Former Principal and Professor, Orthopedic Surgery, D.M.C & Hospital, Ludhiana

Dr. Ahuja is a leading orthopedic surgeon in Ludhiana. Having won 4 Gold Medals during his MBBS he cleared his MS in 1969 from GSVM Medical College, Kanpur. He has held a number of teaching assignments in many reputed hospitals and retired as Principal of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana in Aug-2003.

He played an exemplary role in setting up the 1st Emergency Department located in the old DMC. Setting up the Oganesyan Fixator System Unit from Russia in India in DMC&H is among his various achievements. His Research Papers have been published in various international and national journals and he has presented his work at various conferences including SICOT U.S.A. He is also one of the Trustees of Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust and is also a governing Council Member of Sat Paul Mittal School, Ludhiana.

Ex-Army Chief

General VP Malik was Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army from 01 Oct 1997 to 30 September 2000. During this tenure, he was also Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee of India for two years. In 1999, he coordinated and oversaw the planning and execution of Operation Vijay to successfully defeat Pakistan’s attempted intrusion in Kargil Sector.

He was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Param Vishisht Seva Medal for distinguished military services. He received ‘Excellence in Leadership award’ from Atur Foundation, Pune, ‘Distinguished Fellowship’ of the Institute of Directors, New Delhi, ‘Pride of the Nation’ award by the Doon Citizens’ Council and the ‘Punjab Ratna’ award by Punjab Writers & Cultural Forum. He has authored two books; “Kargil: From Surprise to Victory” and “India’s Military Conflicts and Diplomacy: An Inside View of Decision Making”. Post retirement, he was nominated as a member of the National Security Advisory Board for two terms. Since 2001, he has been an independent director/advisor in several multinational companies and has been a frequent speaker at civil and military institutions, universities and corporate houses.

Dr. Naresh Trehan, an Indian national, is a renowned Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic surgeon, a graduate from King George Medical College and subsequently trained and practiced at New York University Medical Center Manhattan USA from 1971 to 1988, where he obtained a Diplomat from the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Dr. Naresh Trehan founded the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre where he was the Executive Director. Escorts was conceptualised, created and managed by Dr. Trehan from November 1987 to May 2007.

Dr. Naresh Trehan has received many prestigious awards, including the Padma Shree and the Padma Bhushan Award, presented by the Government of India.

Dr. Naresh Trehan was the President of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (ISMICS), Minneapolis, USA 2004-05 and has also received Honorary Doctorate Degrees from three prestigious universities.

Rakesh Bharti Mittal is the President of Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust and is also the Vice-Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, one of India’s leading business groups with interests in Telecom, Space Communications, Insurance, Agri-Processed Foods, Real Estate and Hospitality. Rakesh served as the President of CII for the year 2018-19. He is a member of the India-UK CEO Forum, CII Australia India Business Champions, India-Japan Business Leaders’ Forum and the India Pakistan Joint Business Forum. He is a Member of the Governing Board at the Centre for Policy Research, a Life Member of ICRIER and a Member of the Founding Circle of Centre for Social and Economic Progress.

A passionate advocate for quality education, he is a Member of the Board of the Indian School of Business (ISB), Chairman of the ISB Mohali Campus Advisory Board, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Bharti Institute of Public Policy, ISB and a Member of the Board of Trustees at Plaksha University. Rakesh is the Co-Chairman of the Advisory Board of Bharti School of Telecommunication Technology & Management at IIT Delhi.

He has been awarded the Honorary Doctor of Civil Law Degree by Newcastle University, UK. He is a recipient of the prestigious ‘Horasis – Indian Business Leader of the Year 2016 Award’ and ‘Institute of Engineers Award 2004’. He has received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ from S.C.D. College, Ludhiana and was recognized as a Distinguished Alumni of J.C. Bose University of Science & Technology, YMCA, Faridabad.

Senior Additional Advocate General, Punjab

Mr. Bharat Singh Sobti is a Senior Additional Advocate General of Punjab holding an experience of more than 46 years. He is also an Additional Standing Central Government Counsel for the last six years and in a rare honour has been nominated to the post of Honorary Mayor President of the city of Baton Rouge, USA. Besides leading a countless number of cases relating to civil, criminal, revenue and constitutional matters he has played an advisory role for various government/semi government organizations like Punjab Urban Planning & Development Authority (PUDA), Punjab Pollution Control Board, Punjab State Hosiery Knitwear & Development Corporation, Guru TegBahudar Sahib © Hospital, Ludhiana. He has also authored a book titled, ‘Environment Protection Laws’ and has contributed a number of chapters and articles on Environment Protection Laws and health related problems in different journals and books.

Mr. Onkar Singh Pahwa is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and the Chairman & Managing Director of the Ludhiana based Avon Cycles Ltd. Born in 1952 in Ludhiana, he graduated from the local Govt. College and immediately joined the family business as Management Trainee. Hard work earned him the deserved promotion and he became the company’s Export Director. He participated in more than 40 Trade Fairs across continents and expanded his company’s international footprint, making it the third-largest Indian bicycle brand. As an entrepreneur, he is a visionary and has moved beyond the family line of business, to venture into Wind Power, Solar Energy and Electric Mobility. He added Electric Scooters and Rickshaws to the company’s product line in 2007 and eight years later, introduced the Avon Fitness Machines to the market. Today, the segment offers more than 400 products through a 300 strong network including 100 exclusive stores.

He has been generously contributing to social wellbeing. Raised in memory of his late mother, the Kaushalya Devi Pahwa Trust runs charitable hospitals in Ludhiana, providing free health care facilities to the economically weaker sections. He has been recently conferred upon Prestigious “UDYOG RATNA AWARD” from Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu for his huge contribution to developing industry.
